Frantz Zéphirin (Haiti)

Frantz Zéphirin was born in 1968 in Cap-Haitien. He began painting at the age of 5 with Antoine Obin, grand master of the Cap-Haitien School. He grew to develop his own style, featuring all kinds of wild and familiar animals which in a free and colorful ballet recreate the eventful history of humanity. He has collaborated with artists including Préfète Duffaut, Jose Bédia, Aparecida de Ozedo, Ermelinda Ozias, Diagne Channel, Étienne Chavannes, Pascale Monnin and Edouard Duval Carrié. His paintings have been featured on the cover of several magazines including The New Yorker, Time, and The New York Times. He has exhibited extensively including several biennales and is collected by the Smithsonian, Afrika Museum, Berg-en-Dal, Pays-Bas and Waterloo Museum.
